Public Service Announcement: The PTC finds your smut for you...

...well, smut may be too strong a word. But the Parents' Television Council is kind enough to let you watch the Worst TV Clips of the Week, in case you missed them the first time - or you just want to download them for your collection.

Gizmodo : TiVoToGo Sucks; TiVo Dead

More naysaying about TiVo... Gizmodo : TiVoToGo Sucks; TiVo Dead

I DO wish TiVo desktop had half the functionality of SnapStream's BeyondTV. SnapStream is a company founded by an old classmate of mine, Rakesh Agrawal. TiVo's major advantage over the "free*" cable DVRs is the user experience, which means the software (and ok - the remote). If tiny SnapStream can beat them on that front, TiVo really is in trouble....

"Free", you know, as in $9.95 per month...

Cable DVRs, TiVo and TiVoToGo...

The Wired Home Weblog (yeah I know, not that much of an authority) asks: Is TivoToGo A Bust?

Here's my take:
Haven't tried the Motorola DVR, but I did try the Scientific Atlanta version (which was all Comcast had to offer in my area). It had one - and only one - advantage over TiVo: dual tuners. Other than that the Comcast DVR was so full of bugs and bad design flaws that it made me ditch it and go out and buy a second TiVo.

TiVoToGo is OK, but not that great. The transfer speed IS slow, and the fact that I can't transfer a show from the DVR, delete it from the DVR, and then transfer it back to the DVR to watch it later just sucks.
